Okay lets look at critt gained from buff and talents when using frostfire bolt specc.

Frostfire bolt removed. Frostfire bolt is one of the coolest mage spells and for no reason at all was removed. This means that it damages fire elementals and water elementals equally. Frostfire bolt was better because it did damage, put on snare and dot and had chance to proc frostbite.

Both will generate fingers of frost. Then is would be perfect. Brain freeze makes frostfire bolt instant and free of cost.

Added psychic horror (horror + disarm). Launches a bolt of frostfire at the enemy, causing 722 to 838 frostfire damage, slowing movement speed by 40% and causing an additional 90 frostfire damage over 9 sec. Its primary purpose is to make an elementalist specialization (one with a balance of points between the frost and fire mage trees) viable for pve content (see mage builds).

My only grievance/suggestion is wishing that the appearance changed the frostbolt cast appearance to that of the the removed frostfire bolt appearance. This spell will be checked against the lower of the target's frost and fire resists. Maybe just add it to the kit and we can keep both.

Enhanced pyrotechnics (level 92+) each time your fireball or frostfire bolt fails to critically strike a target, those spells gain a. Flurry sucks, its boring, and it has nothing special. There is no immunity to the damage from frostfire.

Frostfire bolt does not deal fire damage or frost damage, depending on the target. Iirc, there was a frost/fire build in early wrath to specifically boost ffb but it played exactly the same as a standard fire build but you used ffb instead of fb as filler and was eventually outperformed by fire. It's more than fine without it.

Unlocked ak4 and about an hour later ported back to my class hall and saw the emote. Ffb cast time = 1.92 If i recall, it was due to pvp complaints, as opposed to say, frostfire bolt's removal being due to it just being redundant.

Ebonbolt during legion used to come from artifact weapon and made rotation a lot more interesting, plus it did a lot more damage, but it was turned into a talent(changed). If the target is more vulnerable to frost damage, this spell will cause frost instead of fire damage. Frost and fire could greate totally new damage type: They rebalanced with the new expansion. We’ve removed frostfire bolt and made frozen orb part of the core spell kit in its place, which better lends itself to the identity of the frost mage.

Mages didn't need it, and the game doesn't need it. Used it on sheeped targets when opened as fire. Eventually, it just became a spell you used on a proc for frost much the same way flurry is done now.

Chain reaction was a given from a frost legendary for the much needed damage boost to the weak icelances, it was turned into a talent(changed). Rough calculations (excel) indicate that: Fingers of frost makes your ice lance, deep freeze or brain freezed frostfire bolt act as if the target was frozen.

31.33% (gear) + 7% (frost armor) + 5% (raid spell haste) = 43.33% haste. Slow, conic area of effect: It deals the same damage as usual.

I don't do pvp, so i don't know specifically why it was considered any more op than any other stun. Removed improved wing clip root. Ice lance deals double damage against frozen targets, deep freeze only works on frozen targets, but frostfire bolt has no other effect.

I also wanted to know the answer to this question, but i thought that people would say mage armor, because no mana = no damage, but if we are talking dps, molten armor is the best!
